Sony Ericsson, seeking to promote their new W518a Walkman™ phone, used ALPHA to secure sponsorship of the globally-recognized Mavericks Surf Contest®. In order to drive product awareness in the social media arena in a fun and unique way, ALPHA developed the Status Envy contest and sweepstakes.
Art directed, designed and led in the technical development of a custom Facebook® application where fans could vote for their favorite surfer’s status. Each vote secured an entry into the sweepstakes. Banners were also used to drive traffic to the Sony Ericsson USA Facebook page to VOTE.
The Mavericks Facebook page increased fans by 153% during the promotional period.
